Ah, damn you, Uncanny Valley.
Uncanny Valley (for those not in the know) is the phenomenon whereby a computer-generated figure or humanoid robot bearing a near-identical resemblance to a human being arouses a sense of unease or revulsion in the person viewing it. I have come as far as I can to leaving behind the uncanny valley effect without using ZBrush, but the distance I managed is not enough.
So I’ve determined until I learn ZBrush and can create characters you swear live and breathe that I go with a different cover style.
ZBrush, by the way, is a digital sculpting and painting tool. Here is the realism it can accomplish.
